<a href="#comment-80" rel="nofollow">@Aaron Bartell </a>

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I suggested the RPG-XML Suite as a more robust solution if we end up doing more with XML on the iSeries. The biggest issue is just that we only have one or two applications that need to generate XML, and they are just using it to put XML into a data queue so that an ESB can pick it up and work with it. They're not making socket connections themselvees or parsing XML at this point.

I eventually rewrote this to dynamically allocate space for the NODE_LIST structure. The user gets a reference to a node list (ie. a document) and then passes that in to the other methods for creating nodes, etc. I contemplated implementing something like a linked list or array list so that it could handle node lists with more than 65k nodes and use less memory with lists smaller than 65k, but I didn't have time to devote to it.

Hi Andrew. My name is Aaron Bartell and I am lead developer of RPG-XML Suite. If you want you can ping me any barriers I could possibly help move so you can utilize RPG-XML Suite.

Outside of that, your position of learning RPG from the outside is HIGHLY intriguing to me. What do you like about the language? What don't you like? What is keeping it from being your primary business language? Would it be better if it was entirely free form?

Thanks,
